This morning, Station 118 responded to Cragle Hill Road in Union Township for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered a smoke condition throughout the residence. Engine 118 crews located the source of the smoke to a fire in a kitchen trash can. The residence was ventilated, and crews were released by Hunlock Creek Fire Company.
This incident serves as a reminder to use caution when disposing of hot cooking grease, grease-soaked paper towels, and other combustible materials. Always allow these items to cool completely before placing them in the trash to help prevent fires.
