| On July 3, 2026, Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to Route 239 for a reported brush fire involving downed utility wires. The incident was reported after a tractor trailer pulled down overhead lines, causing a fire in the nearby brush.
Upon arrival, crews found an approximately half-acre brush fire with wires down in the area. A secondary spot fire was also located farther down the roadway from the main incident.
During the incident, crews also encountered a motorcycle-related crash down the roadway, where the operator had laid the motorcycle down due to the conditions surrounding the incident. Pennsylvania State Police were requested to respond to the scene.
Utility companies were contacted for the downed wires and damaged utility infrastructure. Fire crews remained on scene until the area was made safe and the scene was turned over to the appropriate police and utility agencies.
The fire was placed under control at approximately 2:15 p.m., and units cleared the scene at approximately 2:55 p.m.
